Welcome to District 3 of the Texas Nurses Association!
Texas Nurses Association, District 3 serves professional registered nurses living and working in Erath, Hood, Johnson, Palo Pinto, Parker, Somervall and Tarrant Counties. As one of the most active districts in Texas Nurses Association, we participate in both local and statewide events giving voice to the nurses of the district. TNA District 3 is an excellent place to meet and network with other professional nurses in our community and keep up on the issues which affect our profession and our practice.
Committees
Bylaws Committee
Board Liason: Dennis Cheek & Rebecca Personett
The Bylaws Committee reviews the current district bylaws and keeps them in line with the state bylaws. It is also the bylaws committees' responsibility to make sure that the bylaws are available to the district and that the district follows said bylaws.
Committee Service Committee
Chairperson: Joanne Onstott
The Community Service Committee is responsible for developing and implementing plans to serve our community. The 2009-2010 Committee shall work to establish a network of volunteers at district hospitals and nursing schools who shall work to collect non-perishable food items for local food banks.
Continuing Education Committee
Board Liaison: Julie Withaeger
The Program Committee is responsible for developing plans for the general program meetings to be held throughout the year and for the annual meeting. The committee shall seek CNE approval for the District's programs, when appropriate. Our goal is to have very interesting and stimulating speakers for this year.
Finance Committee
Board Liaison: Virginia Campbell
The Finance Committee prepares the annual budget, advises the Board of organization expenditures, and reports to the Board of Directors as well as the district membership. The Finance Committee strives to maintain financial records in accordance with the standard accounting practices of a professional organization.
Great 100 Nurse Committee
Board Liaison: Sandi McDermott
The Great 100 Nurse Committee has oversight of the nomination process, selection committee, and the planning of the annual DFW Great 100 Nurse Celebration. This committee is comprised of members of TNA District 3, TNA District 4, NTONE, and NCONE. Our goal is to maintain the strong tradition and integrity for which the DFW Great 100 Nurse Celebration has become known over the past 20 years in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex.
Membership Committee
Board Liaison: Sharon Ransom
The Membership Committee works to increase awareness of TNA -3 activities and promote TNA membership among nurses in District Three. Our goal is to increase the membership of TNA-3.
Public Relations
Board Liaison: Mary Alice Stam
The Public Relations Committee works to increase publicity concerning TNA-3, specifically; and the nursing profession in general. Our goal is to increase public awareness of TNA and its membership.
Governmental Affairs Committee
Board Liaison: Dennis Cheek
The Governmental Affairs, RN/APN PAC & Practice Committee is made of 2 distinct parts: 1) Governmental Affairs & Practice 2) RN/APN PAC
- Goals - Governmental Affairs and Practice Committee
- Identify nursing practice and health care issues that can be addressed by TNA.
- To explore possible solutions to issues identified.
- To provide information on these identified issues to the state level Governmental Affairs committee to determine state level actions needed.
- To keep members apprised of information the committee has identified and information from our state office.
- Goals - RN/APN PAC Committee
- To ensure that members have knowledge of their opportunities to participate in the RN/APN PAC.
- To ensure that members are knowledgeable of how their contributions are used.
- To make available to members information about candidates in the Texas Primaries Elections.
- To make members aware of opportunities to work in campaigns of nurse friendly candidates.
- To have committee members educate candidates on nursing issues.
Ways & Means Committee
Board Liaison: Suzy Lockwood-Rayermann
The Ways & Means Committee assists the treasurer and to oversee and develop methods/opportunities for fundraising for TNA District 3.
Activities in the past have included: Selling of raffle tickets for Holiday Magic auction, Solicitation of items for Holiday Magic auction, and Assist with the "No Gala" Gala & Annual Dinner 50/50 Raffle.
Scholarship Committee
Board Liaison: Dennis Cheek & Rebecca Personett
The Scholarship Committee is responsible for distributing the scholarship applications to each of the nursing schools within our district. Once the completed applications are returned to the district, the scholarship committee is responsible for evaluating the applications to determine the most qualified candidate(s). TNA-3 currently awards one Academic Scholarship and one Monika Dewar Memorial Scholarship each year. The Scholarship Committee's main goal is to increase the number of scholarships awarded.
